Tooth Extraction with Immediate Implant Replacement
We Can Replace an Extracted Tooth Right Away
If you need a tooth extracted and you want to replace your missing tooth right away with an effective solution, then our immediate implant replacement is right for you. Here at Triad Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Macdonald can extract an infected or decayed tooth and replace it that same day with a long-lasting, durable dental implant.
By using a dental implant to replace your extracted tooth, you’ll be able to smile with confidence and eat without restrictions. However, there are some limitations to this procedure, so Dr. Macdonald will go over these with you at your consultation before moving forward.
Reasons for a Tooth Extraction
When you come in for your consultation with Dr. Macdonald, he’ll be able to determine the health of your teeth and see if you’ll need to undergo any supplemental treatments. He’ll be able to do so by taking a CBCT scan of your teeth, gums, and jaw to see if you’ve suffered from severe bone loss or oral infection.
In some cases, patients who have periodontal disease may not be able to receive a dental implant because they have loose teeth, which will need to be extracted. Others may have a decayed tooth that will also need to be extracted before receiving a dental implant.
Benefits of an Immediate Implant Replacement
Along with being able to show off your new smile the same day as your procedure, additional benefits of having an immediate implant placement include:
- Shorter overall treatment time and recovery
- Fewer surgical procedures
- Enjoy your favorite foods again much sooner
- Enhanced confidence right away
How the Procedure Works
After we’ve extracted your tooth, we’ll first surgically place the implant into your jawbone. Your bone will naturally bond to the implant during a process called osseointegration.
Sometimes patients will need to wait until the implant has completely integrated before we can attach the permanent restoration, but many of the times we can create and place a custom-made CEREC crown during the same visit. After the crown has been placed, you can leave our office with a beautifully restored smile.

Dental implants are designed to last a lifetime with proper oral care. However, after seven to 15 years, your crown will need to be replaced at our office.
