Frequently Asked Questions
After tooth extractions, you’ll have to wait six to eight weeks for your gums to heal before an impression can be taken for your new dentures. This will allow time for the swelling to decrease and you’ll get a better fit on your dentures.
Yes, if you choose to receive immediate dentures, your jaw and teeth will be measured about a month prior to your extraction procedure and you’ll leave with your new smile after your appointment. Immediate dentures are only temporary and will ultimately be replaced by conventional dentures.
Root canal therapy typically takes one to two appointments lasting about 90 minutes each. The duration of the appointment is based on your specific needs.
For a more accurate time frame, schedule an appointment with one of our trusted dentists at Triad Cosmetic Dentistry by calling (336) 434-3186. During the consultation, you will receive a customized treatment plan with detailed information including the expected duration of the procedure.
Postponing the procedure or avoiding it altogether can be detrimental to your health. Root canal therapy is necessary to remove the infected pulp within the tooth. Addressing the infection immediately may save your tooth from having to be extracted.
If the infected tooth goes untreated, the infection can spread to other parts of the body and in rare cases, can be life-threatening. If you think you need a root canal, being proactive can prevent further complications and procedures.
A few symptoms of gum disease include:
- Gums that bleed during and after tooth brushing.
- Red, swollen, or tender gums.
- Persistent bad breath
- Receding gums.
- Loose or shifting teeth
It’s important to treat gum disease early on so the disease doesn’t progress. If left untreated, periodontal disease leads to bone loss, tooth mobility, and possible tooth loss.
Insurance may cover a portion or all of the expenses for CEREC crowns. We recommend contacting your provider prior to your appointment to get a better understanding of your coverage.

No. Dental implants are permanently fixed to your jaw bone and can only be removed by a qualified dentist. Caring for your dental implant is very similar to caring for your natural teeth.
In addition to following any recommendations by our trusted dentists and Triad Cosmetic Dentistry, you’ll want to brush twice a day under and around your dental implant with a soft-bristled toothbrush, rinse with mouthwash in between meals, and floss daily.
A bridge can replace as little as one tooth and up to four or more. There needs to be adequate support from the crowns surrounding the bridge. If you don’t have enough natural teeth for the crowns to be placed, you can get additional reinforcement from a dental implant.
